Support Groups The Metro Chapter has groups in both Maryland and Virginia. MARYLAND GROUP- BETHESDAThe Maryland group will meet June 9th (Tuesday), at 7:30 PM. This group is for those living with the illness and their family members and at-risk. The meeting will be held at Sara Lieberman's office, 4424 Montgomery Avenue, Suite 200, Bethesda, Maryland. Parking is available behind the building. Please enter the building through the back door off the parking lot. (Front door is locked at night.) For complete directions please call 301-718-8531 and leave a message. Sara will return your call. VIRGINIA GROUP-BAILEY'S CROSSROADSThe Virginia group will meet June 25th (Thursday), at 7:30 PM. This group is for anyone with an interest in any aspect of HD. Everyone is welcome, individuals, couples, family members, friends. Newcomers are always and especially welcomed. We may divide into a couple of groups for part of the meeting to focus on particular HD "issues." For further information about the meetings and/or complete directions please call Nancy at 703-281-4928, Ext. 425 (Press 1 before dialing extension). I'll return your call; you can also e-mail me at the above e-mail. We will meet in the Board Room at Goodwin House, Bailey's Crossroads, 3440 South Jefferson Street, Bailey's Crossroads, Virginia. IMPORTANT! Please don't be daunted by the following directions about parking! Due to construction, you'll need to park against the fence in a well-lit Giant Foods parking lot which is adjacent to Goodwin House. This part of the Giant parking lot is behind the Giant store. A lighted walkway leads from the parking lot to a changed entrance at Goodwin House. Basically, you'll follow a hallway around to an older part of Goodwin House. Part way down the hallway you'll see a small library section where you turn left and walk through the library area to another hallway. Nearly directly in front of you is the Board Room. This is pretty easy to navigate, although it may sound complex. If you miss the Board Room (we'll try to leave the door open) the easiest solution is to go to the "old" lobby and ask at the desk for directions to the Board Room. Both groups are led by licensed social workers. E-MAIL LIST: If you know of someone who would like to be added to this e-mail list, please let Nancy Swain at nancres@comcast.net know, or have them e-mail her. Thank you. |
